What are AI Suggestions?
AI Suggestions are personalized recommendations for things you can do to show love and appreciation to your partner. Based on your partner's AI profile (built from their card swipes), the AI generates thoughtful ideas tailored to their unique preferences.
You receive suggestions for your partner - These are things the AI thinks your partner would appreciate, based on their swipes and preferences.
How It Works
Generating Suggestions
- Navigate to Suggestions tab
- Choose generation type:
- General suggestions - Mixed variety of ideas
- Category-specific - Targeted suggestions for a specific category
- Tap "Generate Suggestions"
- Wait for AI to create personalized ideas (5-15 seconds)
- Browse your new suggestions
Suggestion Categories
ReKindle offers 7 categories for targeted suggestions:

Category-Based Generation
How to generate by category:
- Tap the Category Selector card at the top of Suggestions screen
- Select a category icon (Date Night, Gift Ideas, etc.)
- Tap "Generate Suggestions"
- AI creates 3-7 targeted suggestions in that category
When to use categories:
- Planning for an upcoming event (birthdays, anniversaries)
- Looking for specific types of ideas (only date nights, only gifts)
- Feeling stuck in one area of your relationship
- Want focused recommendations
When you receive an Important Date reminder, the notification includes a suggested category (e.g., "Gift" for birthdays, "Date" for anniversaries) with a quick action to generate suggestions.
Understanding Suggestions
Suggestion Card Contents
Each suggestion shows:
- Title - Short, catchy description
- Description - Detailed explanation of the idea
- AI Reasoning - Why the AI thinks your partner would appreciate this
- Category - What type of suggestion it is
- Timestamp - When it was generated
- Like status - Whether you've liked it or not
Example:
Title: "Sunset Picnic at the Park"
Description: "Plan a surprise picnic at your local park during sunset. Bring your partner's favorite snacks, a cozy blanket, and maybe a portable speaker for some music."
AI Reasoning: "Based on your partner's preferences, they value quality time outdoors and appreciate thoughtful planning. They enjoy simple, meaningful moments over expensive gestures."

Liking Suggestions
Why like suggestions?
- ✅ Liked suggestions appear first in your list
- ✅ Helps you save favorites for later
- ✅ Trains the AI to understand what resonates with you
How to like:
- Tap the ❤️ heart icon on any suggestion card
- Tap again to unlike
"More Like This" Feature
Found a suggestion you love? Generate similar ideas!
How it works:
- Find a suggestion you really like
- Tap "More Like This" button
- AI generates new suggestions similar to that one
- Get 3-7 new ideas in the same style/theme
Example:
If you loved "Sunset Picnic at the Park," you might get:
- "Breakfast on the Balcony"
- "Stargazing Night with Hot Chocolate"
- "Beach Bonfire Evening"
"More Like This" counts as a suggestion generation toward your monthly limit.
Manual Suggestions Integration
AI Suggestions work alongside Manual Suggestions:
- AI Suggestions - Things you can do for your partner
- Manual Suggestions - Things you want your partner to do for you
Both appear in the same Suggestions screen, clearly differentiated:
- AI suggestions show AI reasoning
- Manual suggestions show creator and status (Pending, Planned, Done)

Usage Limits
Suggestion generation uses AI processing and is subject to monthly limits based on your subscription plan. Each "Generate" or "More Like This" action counts as one generation.

What Happens at Limit
When you reach your monthly limit:
- You can still view existing suggestions
- You can still like/unlike suggestions
- You cannot generate new suggestions until next month
- A friendly modal explains your limit and upgrade options
Managing Suggestions
Sorting
Suggestions are automatically sorted:
- Liked suggestions - Your favorites appear first
- Neutral suggestions - Suggestions you haven't liked
- Disliked suggestions - Suggestions you've dismissed (if applicable)
Refresh
Pull down on the Suggestions screen to:
- Refresh the list
- Check for new suggestions
- Update timestamps
Generation Timestamp
Each batch of suggestions shows when it was generated:
"Generated 2 hours ago" or "Generated on Jan 3, 2026"
This helps you track which suggestions are fresh vs. older ideas you may have already considered.
Partner Requirement
You must be linked with a partner to generate AI suggestions. The AI needs your partner's profile data to create personalized recommendations.
If you're not linked, you'll see a prompt to connect with your partner first.
Tips for Using Suggestions
1. Generate Thoughtfully
Don't waste generations. Generate when:
- You want fresh ideas
- You're planning something specific
- You're feeling stuck or uninspired
- An important date is approaching
2. Use Categories Strategically
- Planning a birthday? Use Gift Ideas
- Anniversary coming up? Try Date Night or Experiences
- Feeling disconnected? Generate Quality Time or Relaxation
- Want to surprise them? Use Surprises category
3. Like Your Favorites
Mark suggestions you want to remember or might do later. Liked suggestions stay at the top for easy access.
4. Act on Suggestions
Suggestions are most valuable when you actually do them. Pick one this week and surprise your partner!
5. Combine with Manual Suggestions
Balance what you do for your partner (AI suggestions) with what you'd like them to do for you (Manual Suggestions).
6. Don't Over-Generate
If you have good suggestions already, wait before generating more. Quality over quantity!
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How does the AI know what my partner likes?
A: The AI analyzes your partner's card swipes to understand their values, preferences, communication style, love languages, and interests. The more cards they swipe, the better the suggestions.
Q: Will my partner see the suggestions I receive?
A: No, your suggestions are private to you. However, when you act on them, your partner will obviously notice!
Q: Can I generate suggestions if my partner hasn't swiped any cards?
A: You need your partner to swipe at least 10-20 cards for the AI to generate meaningful suggestions. If they haven't swiped enough, you'll be prompted to encourage them to swipe more.
Q: What if I don't like any of the suggestions?
A: Generate a new batch! Each generation is different. You can also try a specific category if the general suggestions don't resonate.
Q: Can I save suggestions for later?
A: Yes! Like suggestions (❤️ heart icon) to keep them at the top of your list for easy access later.
Q: Do suggestions expire?
A: No, suggestions remain in your list indefinitely. However, newer suggestions may be more relevant as your partner's preferences evolve.
Q: How is this different from generic date idea lists?
A: ReKindle suggestions are personalized to your specific partner based on their unique swipe data. Unlike generic lists, these ideas are tailored to their personality, values, and preferences.
Q: Can I request specific types of suggestions?
A: Yes! Use the 7 category options to generate targeted suggestions. For a broad mix of ideas, try the General Ideas category.
Q: What happens to my suggestions if I unlink from my partner?
A: Your suggestions remain viewable, but you cannot generate new suggestions without a linked partner.
