Create your own suggestions and collaborate with your partner to make them happen.

What are Manual Suggestions?​

While Rekindle provides AI-generated suggestions for your partner, Manual Suggestions let you create your own requests with optional rewards, fostering collaborative planning between partners.

Key Difference
  • AI Suggestions: Your partner receives AI-generated ideas to do things for you
  • Manual Suggestions: You create suggestions for yourself, and your partner can plan and complete them

How It Works​

The Complete Flow​

1. Create a Suggestion

As Giulia, you want to go to the cinema:

  • Title: "Go to the cinema"
  • Description: "I would like to go see the new movie this weekend"
  • Reward (optional): "I will do a feet massage"
  • Status: Pending (waiting for Laurent to plan it)

2. Partner Views the Suggestion

Laurent sees on his suggestions screen:

  • "Giulia would like to go to the cinema"
  • The description is visible
  • The reward is hidden until later
  • Action: "Plan It" button

3. Partner Plans the Activity

Laurent clicks "Plan It":

  • Status changes to Planned
  • Laurent is now committed to organizing this
  • Giulia can see Laurent has committed
  • Giulia receives a notification: "Suggestion planned! 📝"

4. Partner Completes the Activity

After taking Giulia to the cinema:

  • Laurent marks it as "Done"
  • Status changes to Done
  • Giulia receives a notification: "Suggestion completed! ✅"

5. Reward Decision (only if a reward was written)

If Giulia wrote a reward when creating the suggestion, her home screen now shows an "Awaiting Your Decision" section with the completed suggestion. She has two options:

  • "Offer Reward" - Laurent will see the reward and get a notification: "Reward offered! 🎁"
  • "Complete Without Reward" - Activity is marked as complete with no reward

If no reward was written, the suggestion simply stays in "Done" status — no action needed.

6. Final Status

  • If reward offered: Status = Completed with Reward ✨
  • If no reward: Status = Completed ✓

Creating Manual Suggestions​

What Makes a Good Suggestion?​

✅ Good Examples:

  • "Go to the cinema to see the new Marvel movie"
  • "Plan a picnic in the park this weekend"
  • "Cook dinner together - try that new recipe"
  • "Have a game night with board games"

❌ Avoid:

  • Being too vague: "Do something nice"
  • Making demands: "You must take me out"
  • Unrealistic requests without discussion

Adding Rewards​

Rewards are completely optional but can add fun motivation:

Reward Ideas:

  • "I'll cook your favorite meal"
  • "I'll give you a massage"
  • "I'll take over your chores this week"
  • "I'll plan our next date"
  • "I'll make your favorite dessert"
Privacy

Your partner cannot see the reward until you decide to offer it after completion. This prevents the reward from being the only motivation.

Finding Your Suggestions​

Your Created Suggestions​

See all suggestions you've created:

  • Navigate to Suggestions > My Manual Suggestions
  • Delete suggestions you no longer want

Suggestions From Your Partner​

See suggestions your partner created for themselves:

  • Navigate to Suggestions screen
  • Look for manual suggestions (marked with a special badge)
  • Click "Plan It" to commit to organizing it
  • Track planned activities on the home screen

Managing Suggestions​

Deleting​

You can delete your own manual suggestions at any time:

  • Opens a confirmation dialog
  • Permanently removes the suggestion
  • Your partner will no longer see it

Deleting a suggestion that your partner has already planned might disappoint them. Consider communicating first!

Image Analysis​

What is Image Analysis?​

When your partner creates a manual suggestion with an attached image (e.g., a photo of a product they want), you can use AI-powered image analysis to identify the product and get a direct web search link.

How It Works​

  1. Your partner creates a suggestion with an image attachment
  2. On the suggestion card, tap "Analyze Image"
  3. The AI identifies whether the image contains a product
  4. If a product is found, you'll see the product name and a "Search on Web" button
  5. Tap the button to search for the product online
Who Can Use It

Image analysis is only available to the partner (the person receiving the suggestion), not the creator. This helps the partner identify and find the right gift or item.

Tips for Success​

Creating Suggestions​

  1. Be Specific: "Go to the cinema on Friday" is better than "Go out"
  2. Be Reasonable: Consider your partner's schedule and capacity
  3. Communicate: If it's time-sensitive, mention it in the description
  4. Reward Thoughtfully: Make rewards meaningful but achievable

Planning for Your Partner​

  1. Commit When Ready: Only click "Plan It" if you can actually do it
  2. Follow Through: Your partner is counting on you
  3. Mark as Done Promptly: Don't forget to mark completion
  4. Enjoy the Reward: If offered, accept it graciously!

Offering Rewards​

  1. Be Genuine: Only offer rewards you're happy to give
  2. Be Timely: Decide soon after completion
  3. Be Appreciative: The reward is a thank-you, not a payment

Home Screen Integration​

Manual suggestions surface directly on each partner's home screen at the right moment — no need to navigate into the Suggestions tab to take action.

For the Creator – "Awaiting Your Decision"​

Once your partner marks a suggestion as Done, if you wrote a reward when creating the suggestion, a new section called "Awaiting Your Decision" appears on your home screen. It shows each completed suggestion with:

  • The suggestion title and description
  • Your hidden reward text (now visible to you)
  • Two action buttons: "Offer Reward" and "Complete Without Reward"

The section disappears once you've made a decision on every suggestion in it. If no reward was written, the section does not appear — the suggestion is simply complete.

Check your home screen after you receive a "Suggestion completed! ✅" notification — that's your cue to head there and make your decision.

For the Partner – "Rewards Earned"​

When the creator decides to offer a reward, a "Rewards Earned" section appears on your home screen. Each card shows:

"[Creator name] has offered you a reward for completing '[suggestion title]'"

Along with the reward description.

To dismiss a reward card:

  • Mobile: Swipe right on the card
  • Web: Tap the trash icon on the card

Once dismissed, the card is permanently removed from the section.

Notifications​

Rekindle sends push notifications at each key moment in the manual suggestion lifecycle. No notification is sent when a suggestion is first created.

All notifications are accessible via the bell icon and expire after 30 days.

Frequently Asked Questions​

Q: Will I get notified when my partner plans or completes my suggestion?

A: Yes! You'll receive a push notification when your partner clicks "Plan It" and again when they mark it as "Done". Your partner also gets a notification when you offer them a reward.

Q: Can I create suggestions for my partner (not for myself)?

A: No, manual suggestions are for things YOU want. For things you want your partner to do, you can talk to them and they can create their own manual suggestion, or wait for AI suggestions.

Q: Is a reward required?

A: No! Rewards are completely optional. Many couples use manual suggestions without rewards.

Q: Can my partner see the reward before I offer it?

A: No, the reward remains hidden until you explicitly choose to offer it after completion.

Q: What if my partner can't complete the suggestion?

A: They can communicate with you and you can delete the suggestion if it's no longer needed.

Q: Can I have multiple manual suggestions at once?

A: Yes! Create as many as you want. Just be mindful not to overwhelm your partner.

Q: What happens if I don't decide on the reward?

A: If you wrote a reward, the suggestion stays in "Done" status until you make a decision. You can take your time, but it's good to decide within a reasonable timeframe. If you didn't write a reward, no decision is needed — the suggestion is simply complete.

Q: Can I change my mind about offering a reward?

A: Once you've made the decision (offer or no offer), it's final. Choose carefully!
